The Miniature Great Wall & Longtoushan – A Valley and River Panorama

The majestic scenery of the Great Wall is breathtaking, but Taiwan also has a scaled-down version of a Great Wall hiking trail. Located in the Maolin National Scenic Area, Longtoushan features a small Great Wall-style trail built along the mountain ridge, offering stunning views of the expansive mountain ranges and winding river valleys. Longtoushan is a rare example of a tor formation, surrounded on three sides by high mountains, with meandering streams. Towering cliffs rise from the mountain, featuring ridgelines that resemble dragon spines — the entire terrain looks like a resting dragon. Additionally, due to long-term water erosion, the hills appear as if a giant dragon is spitting out pearls when viewed from afar. It’s common to see flocks of eagles circling the cliffs or soaring along the valleys, which is why it’s also known as Eagle Valley.
