A miniature Great Wall on Longtou Mountain offers sweeping views of valleys and rivers

The majestic scenery of the Great Wall is breathtaking, but Taiwan also has its own miniature version of a Great Wall trail. Located in the Maolin National Scenic Area, Longtou Mountain features a small Great Wall-style trail built along the mountain ridge, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys with stunning scenery. Longtou Mountain is a rare example of a circular ridge landform, surrounded by high mountains on three sides, with meandering streams. The cliffs of Longtou Mountain rise sharply, featuring ridges that resemble a dragon’s spine, giving the entire terrain the appearance of a resting dragon. Additionally, due to long-term water erosion, the hills look as if a giant dragon is spitting out pearls. Eagles are often seen circling the cliffs or soaring along the valleys, which is why the area is also known as Eagle Valley.
