Huangshan Site

Huangshan Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Neolithic Age

Located in Huangshan Village, Pushan Town, Wolong District, Nanyang City. It stretches 600 meters from east to west and 500 meters from north to south, generally standing about 30 meters above the ground, with cultural layers 1–3 meters thick. In 1959, when archaeologists from Henan Province excavated the site, they discovered three house foundations, ten houses from different periods — some standalone rooms, others with two interconnected rooms divided by partition walls and featuring hearths in the middle. In addition, 57 tombs were found, most of which were burials with the body lying straight on the back. Burial objects included pottery such as ding (tripods), bowls, pots, basins, jars, dou (stemmed bowls), cups, plates, cups, pedestals, rings, and spinning wheels; bone artifacts such as needles, awls, hairpins, arrowheads, daggers, as well as bones of pigs, cattle, and deer. The pottery was mainly made of red clay and gray clay, with black clay being less common. Most surfaces were plain, with a small number featuring painted designs. A rare piece of dushiyu (unique jade) shovel was also unearthed. In May 2013, it was designated and announced as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.

Pushan Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Wolong District, Nanyang City. Established as Huai Shu Wan Commune in 1968, renamed Pushan Commune in 1974, changed to a township in 1984, and upgraded to a town in 1985. It is located in the northern part of the city, 16 kilometers from the city center. Covering an area of 139 square kilometers with a population of 84,000, it is traversed by the Jiaozuo-Zhicheng Railway and the Zhengzhou-Nanyang West Line Highway in the east, and crossed by the Nanyang Local Railway in the south.
