Houzhuang Zhongjing Health Garden

Houzhuang Zhongjing Health Garden is located in the central part of Longxing Township, about 25 kilometers north of Nanyang city proper. It borders Qilin Lake Scenic Area to the south, neighbors Zishan Tourist Zone, and is traversed by the Yuanming River, offering picturesque scenery.

The Houzhuang tourism village has made the development of the traditional Chinese medicine industry an important part of integrating agriculture and tourism. In collaboration with Nanyang Zhongjing Hall, it jointly invested to build the 3,000-mu Zhongjing Health Garden, aiming to explore and develop traditional Chinese medicine culture. It is a health resort integrating medical treatment and recuperation. The garden displays various charts including the Five Phases and Six Qi Chart, 24 Solar Terms Taiji Diagram, Six Qi Timing Chart, Luoshu Nine Palaces Eight Winds Diagram, and the Twelve Meridians of Destiny and Viscera Chart. From a high vantage point, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of forests, farmlands, and squares. Here, traditional Chinese medicine wellness culture and eco-tourism are creatively integrated, making it a uniquely distinctive health destination in the city.

Since 2004, Houzhuang has implemented the practice of “intercropping fruit trees with medicinal herbs,” and the planting area has now expanded to over a thousand mu. The main crops include medicinal plants such as Salvia miltiorrhiza, Chrysanthemum morifolium, Scrophularia ningpoensis, Lonicera japonica, and Gardenia jasminoides—earning it the title of “hometown of medicinal herbs.” The area also features the Houzhuang Leyou Garden and six agritainment spots, with the signature dish being medicinal vinegar-braised chicken.

Houzhuang has introduced the “Zhongjing Hall” medicinal cuisine processing project. With the help of traditional Chinese medicine experts, specialty agricultural products such as black-eyed beans for improving vision and black sesame are deeply processed and infused with herbal ingredients to create unique health foods. The area also offers a variety of medicinal diets, medicinal baths, medicinal pillows, wellness teas, wellness wines, and other health-oriented tourism products, which are highly favored by visitors.
