The Stele of Pei Jin’s Ancestral Hall is located within the campus of Peicheng School in Peicheng Village, Peicheng Town, Yancheng District, Luohe City. This stele consists of two inscribed stones: the “Record of the Reconstruction of Pei Jin’s Ancestral Hall,” which stands 4.52 meters tall overall—with a stele head 1.17 meters high, 1 meter wide, and 0.34 meters thick, and a body 2.75 meters high, 1 meter wide, and 0.32 meters thick—and the “Record of the Reconstruction of the Buildings of Pei Jin’s Ancestral Hall,” which is 4.15 meters in total height, with a stele head 1.11 meters high, 0.9 meters wide, and 0.3 meters thick, and a body 2.53 meters high, 0.86 meters wide. The inscriptions detail the historical events of the rebellion led by Wu Shaoyang’s son, the military governor of Huaixi Circuit, who held sway over Cai Prefecture from the ninth to the twelfth year of the Yuanhe era of the Tang dynasty, as well as Pei Du’s campaign against Cai. They also chronicle the rise and fall of the ancestral hall built in Pei Du’s memory, along with later commemorations and worship activities. These records hold significant historical value for the study of the “pacification of rebellion” during the Tang dynasty. Additionally, the inscriptions feature powerful calligraphy, while the dragon-shaped stele head and turtle-shaped pedestal are exquisitely carved with smooth, lifelike lines, offering high reference value for the study of calligraphy and sculpture art.
