Iron Ox for Taming the River

The Iron Ox for Taming the River is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province.

The Iron Ox for Taming the River, also known as the Iron Water Buffalo, is located on the levee of the Shahe River in Chengguan Town, Yancheng District, Luohe City, about 500 meters to the left of National Highway 107. The iron buffalo lies facing the mouth of the Shahe River. Its whole body is pitch black, with high horns and eyes fixed on the river surface, exuding an imposing yet restrained aura. The ox stands 1.5 meters tall and is 1.2 meters long. It was cast in wrought iron in the ninth year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1829) under the supervision of Fu Honglin, the 22nd county magistrate of Yancheng County, by local blacksmiths. It is one of the Eight Minor Scenic Spots of Yancheng.
