Tianpu Dawan Scenic Area

Tianpu Dawan Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Tianpu Dawan is located in the southeastern part of Xin County, Henan Province, in the heart of the Dabie Mountains. It is an ancient village just separated from the Tianpu Township government by a river. The area boasts a beautiful natural environment, with well-preserved architecture and overall structure of the ancient village. The village currently has a population of 246 people, spread across 75 households. There are 260 existing houses, which were initially built in the early years of the Republic of China. These are typical residential buildings of southern Henan, heavily influenced by Central Plains culture, Chu culture, and Huizhou culture. Most feature unique architectural forms such as earthen walls and sloped tile roofs, blending the sturdiness of northern Chinese homes with the elegance of those in the south.

Tianpu Dawan is also known as Yitianpu Wan. It is said that the original residents of the village were from the Yi family. Although the family was quite wealthy, they had no sons—only several daughters, each said to be as beautiful as flowers, much to the envy of others. However, unexpectedly, all of them ran off with someone, leaving the Yi family without any descendants. Because the area was originally inhabited by the Yi family, it came to be called Yitianpu Wan, a name that has been used to this day.
