The former site of the Rear General Hospital of the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province, a classic red tourism attraction, and a patriotic education base.

The former site of the Rear General Hospital of the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army is located on the main street of Jianchanghe Township, Xin County. In the autumn of 1930, the Special Committee of the Hubei-Henan-Anhui Border Region of the Communist Party of China and the First Army of the Red Army established the Rear General Hospital of the Red Army here. In November 1931, after the formation of the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army, it was renamed the "Rear General Hospital of the Fourth Front Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army." By then, its size and organizational structure were already quite comprehensive. Centered around the general hospital, it included an affiliated traditional Chinese medicine hospital, a Red medical training class, as well as six branch hospitals and the Northwest Anhui Central Hospital spread across the revolutionary base area. The Political Commissar of the General Hospital was Hu Mingzheng, the Director was Meng Huanran, and the Deputy Director was Shao Dafu. The hospital's administration comprised a Medical Department, a Supply Department, and a Political Department, and it also published a newspaper called the Microscope News. The hospital had both internal and external medicine departments, consisting of outpatient and inpatient wards, with over 100 staff members capable of performing major surgeries such as intestinal anastomosis and amputations. There were more than 500 beds in total, mainly for severely wounded or ill soldiers, while those with minor injuries or illnesses were accommodated in the homes of local residents. In the autumn of 1932, after the failure of the fourth counter-"encirclement and suppression" campaign, the hospital building was burned down. The former site of the Rear General Hospital of the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army was originally a two-story brick-and-wood structure with a sedan-roof design, facing south. It measured 32 meters in length from east to west and 24 meters in width from north to south. The building had two floors, each with 24 rooms. The central courtyard rose in a sedan-roof shape. The building was surrounded by lotus ponds. Due to its novel architecture, locals referred to it as the "foreign-style house." After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Jianchanghe Health Clinic was built on the original site. In 1976, the Xin County government erected a memorial stele in front of the former site. In 1977, it was designated as a key revolutionary heritage site of Xin County.
