Former Site of the Soviet Lenin Higher School

The former site of the Soviet Lenin Higher School is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province, a classic red tourism destination, and a base for patriotic education.

The former site of the Eyuwan Provincial Soviet Lenin Higher School is located in Guojiahe Village, Xin County, 30 kilometers from the county seat. The site was originally the manor of a landlord surnamed Wang, consisting of 54 rooms. In 1931, as the Eyuwan Revolutionary Base Area rapidly expanded, there was an urgent need for skilled personnel in various fields. As a result, the border region government established the Lenin Higher School here. The principal was Du Xiaosheng, who selected over ten teachers and instructors to teach courses in politics, Chinese language, mathematics, military science, and more. The school employed a teaching principle that combined theory with practice. In the spring of 1932, the school was relocated to Xinji. Over time, it trained more than 800 military and political cadres for the base area, some of whom later became senior leaders in the Party and the military.

In 1963, it was approved by the People's Government of Henan Province as a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit.

Currently, 27 rooms remain, including the two central rows and the north wing rooms. In 1992, major renovations were carried out on the site, and a marble protection plaque was installed on the side wall of the front gate.

Guojiahe Township: Located in the southwest of Xin County, at the border between Henan and Hubei provinces and spanning both the Yangtze River and Huai River basins, Guojiahe Township borders Qiliping Town of Hong'an County, Hubei Province. The township covers a total area of 84.2 square kilometers, including 0.59 million mu of arable land. It administers 6 administrative villages and 1 neighborhood committee, with 92 villager groups and a total population of 10,100. In 2016, the total local GDP of the township reached 337 million yuan, with local fiscal revenue of 3.41 million yuan, fixed asset investment of 257 million yuan, and per capita net income of farmers reaching 10,214 yuan.
