Lü Kun Cultural Park Scenic Area

Lü Kun was a literary figure, philosopher, and thinker of the Ming Dynasty, also known as Master Shasui. His work "Shenyin Yu" has been translated into over 20 languages.

The Tomb of Lü Kun was commissioned for construction by Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty and is located in Lvfen Village, Yangyi Township, our county. Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, recognizing Lü Kun’s outstanding contributions, erected a stele and recorded his legacy.

In March 2006, the Tomb of Lü Kun was restored. The People's Government of Ningling County, descendants of the Lü family, and various sectors of society donated generously to fund the project. The tomb was restored to its original scale as commissioned during the Ming Dynasty. The centerpiece of the scenic area is the tomb of the renowned materialist philosopher Lü Kun, commissioned by Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty and honored with a stele by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. The tomb complex spans 36 hectares, surrounded by lush cypresses, exuding solemnity and reverence. In front of the tomb are stone tablets, stone slab tables, stone desks, stone benches, stone candle stands, and a spirit way. Along the spirit way are stone figures of humans, horses, sheep, lions, and a memorial archway, all inscribed with the word “Imperial Commissioned,” showcasing a grand scale.

Today, the Lü Kun Tomb site covers 3.3 hectares. The area in front of the tomb is verdant and serene, tranquil and secluded, receiving nearly ten thousand domestic and international scholars and tourists every year.
