Dingjutai Ruins

The Dingjutai Ruins are a protected cultural heritage site of Henan Province.

The Dingjutai Longshan Culture ruins are located about 100 meters northwest of Dingjutai Village, Chenglou Township, Ningling County. Today, there remains an upper mound measuring 50 meters in both length and width. The site covers an area of approximately 4,500 square meters. In 1978, Zhi Hongyuan from the Luoyang Archaeological Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences led a local and county-level cultural relics investigation team to conduct exploration and research here. Drilling revealed that the cultural layers are divided into three strata: the first layer, at a depth of about one meter, contains gray pottery shards; the second layer, at a depth of about two meters, contains black and gray cord-marked pottery shards; the third layer, at a depth of about three meters, contains gray pottery shards with grid and basket patterns, along with traces of charcoal ash. The cultural layer is about 3.7 meters thick. The site is well-preserved and was designated as a county-level protected cultural heritage site by the Central Archaeological Research Institute in 1981, and was elevated to a municipal-level key protected cultural heritage site in July 2002.
