Former Site of the Women's Normal School
The building of the Former Site of the Women's Normal School is designed in the eclectic Western classical style of the late Qing Dynasty. Western-style columns and arched decorations are interspersed with many traditional Chinese brick carvings and floral motifs. It was completed in 1909 (the first year of the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty). The teaching building covers an area of 4,300 square meters, and the auditorium covers 220 square meters. It is a complex consisting of four buildings. The brick-built structures are adorned with intricate patterns, corridors are lined with vermilion-painted columns, and the tall windows and doors all feature arched openings. The offices are equipped with tiled fireplace facades, and even the window latches are spiral-controlled, featuring extendable mechanisms that are imported goods.
