Red Star Yuan Sheng Hao Museum
The Beijing Qianmen Yuan Sheng Hao Museum, located at No. 40 Liangshi Dian Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, is a private museum established in 2011 by Beijing Red Star Co., Ltd. to showcase the culture of Beijing Erguotou liquor.
The Yuan Sheng Hao Museum is located in the bustling core commercial area of Qianmen Street, with its eastern section at No. 99 Qianmen Street. The western part of the distillery adjoins No. 40 Liangshi Dian Street. In front of the entrance, there is a bronze sculpture group depicting “civil officials dismounting their carriages and military officers dismounting their horses upon catching the aroma and taste,” while the interior continues the “front shop, back workshop” layout of the original Yuan Sheng Hao tavern. Upon entering the historical site, the main visiting route follows the sequence of the old tavern hall, the original brewing site of Yuan Sheng Hao, and the Red Star corporate culture exhibition. As soon as you enter the restored old tavern exhibition hall, the ceiling features several lamps adorned with blue floral porcelain, while the surrounding walls display the long and storied history of Red Star Erguotou and Yuan Sheng Hao. The entire museum embodies a blend of retro and modern elements, presented through a mix of continuous and intermittent displays, creating focused points of interest. The division of different scenic zones allows visitors to enjoy a complete tour whether entering from the west or east gate, thereby better enabling consumers to experience the charm of Red Star culture while purchasing Red Star products. The “back workshop” of the “Yuan?N Hao” Museum directly faces the entrance and features carved portraits of Zhao Cunren, Zhao Cunyi, and Zhao Cunli. A section of the wall inside the museum also bears the following historical inscription: “The white liquor (historically known as shaojiu) of the Beijing area originated in the Yuan Dynasty, boasting a history of 800 years. Historical records state: among all regions, the capital city had the greatest variety of liquors.”
