Guide Fairyland Source features over fifty major cultural attractions within the park, including city walls, lofty pavilions, elegant pavilions, Jade Pool, fishing platforms, Nine Dragons Cave, maritime amusement park, and a bas-relief group depicting Emperor Taizong of Tang’s Eastern Expedition. The main natural attractions include a seawater bathing beach, Zhujing Sand Beach, sea views of sunrise and sunset, the Bohai and Yellow Seas, the Three Divine Mountains, peculiar reefs and rocks, cave springs, and steep peaks and cliffs, totaling over a hundred in all.

Highlights Up until the 1980s, archaeologists unearthed a human skull fossil here dating back 25,000 years (classified as a national treasure-level cultural relic), along with nearly a hundred Eastern Zhou Dynasty tombs—including one belonging to a lord with seven ding vessels. Artifacts from subsequent dynasties have also been discovered. Therefore, this site can be regarded as the very first village of human origin on Changdao Island and even the Jiaodong Peninsula.

Fairyland Source is located in the eastern part of Changdao County, covering an area of 2 square kilometers. It combines both natural and cultural landscapes, with the theme of the park being “to establish itself as a youth science education base.”

Getting to the Island

To reach Changdao Island, you must first go to Penglai. Take a passenger ferry from Penglai Port to the island. Ferry service at Penglai Port operates from 6:00 to 18:30, with departures approximately every 20–30 minutes. The one-way fare is 30 RMB per person, and the round-trip fare is 60 RMB per person.

Transportation on the Island

Car Rental: Although taxis are available on the island, renting a car is more cost-effective for traveling between scenic spots.

Bicycle: Many local fishermen rent out bicycles. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, you can rent one from them.

Fairyland Source ticket: 45 RMB

Changdao Scenic Area Combo Ticket: 150 RMB (valid for three days), includes entry to: Jiuzhang Cliff, Crescent Bay, Wangfu Reef, Linhai Forest, Fengshan Mountain, and Fairyland Source, and comes with a free visit to the Changdao History Museum.

Southern Route Ticket: 100 RMB (valid for two days), includes entry to: Linhai Forest (Bohai-Yellow Sea Convergence Line, Guanyin Blessing Spot, Fuyun Pavilion), Fengshan Mountain (Bird Exhibition Hall), Wangfu Reef, and Fairyland Source.
