Dragon Claw Mountain

Dragon Claw Mountain is located at the northern tip of Dahei Mountain Island and is named after the legendary claw marks left behind from a battle between a dragon and a serpent. The scenic area features uniquely shaped giant rocks and caves. The Northern China’s No. 1 marine erosion cave — Juxian Cave — is said to be the gathering place where the Eight Immortals met to discuss affairs, and it is the highlight of Dragon Claw Mountain. This cave stands over 20 meters above the water surface, extends more than 80 meters in depth, and connects with three other smaller and larger branch caves. You can enter through the “main entrance” by boat and exit through the “side entrance.” Inside the cave, the high, steep ceilings and deep, mysterious recesses echo with the sound of flowing water. Outside the cave, peculiar reefs and rocks resemble buildings, palaces, benches, and beds.

Travel Time: 90 minutes from Penglai to Dahei Mountain Island, 40 minutes from Changdao to Dahei Mountain Island Transportation

To reach the scenic spot, you must first get to Changdao Scenic Area.

To get to Changdao, you must first go to Penglai and take a passenger ferry from Penglai Port. Ferries operate from 6:00 to 18:30, roughly every 20–30 minutes. The one-way fare is 30 RMB per person, and the round-trip fare is 60 RMB per person.

There is only one daily ferry from Changdao to Dahei Mountain Island, departing around 9:00.

23 RMB per person from Penglai to Dahei Mountain Island, 17 RMB per person from Changdao to Dahei Mountain Island.

Island tours and the Beizhuang Ruins are free of charge. Dragon Claw Mountain (20 RMB per person) and Pagoda Reef require a boat trip. You can charter a boat for an offshore trip: small boats cost 400 RMB (seats up to 5 people), large boats cost 800 RMB (seats up to 10 people).
