South Changshan Island

South Changshan Island is located at the southern tip of Changdao County, Yantai City, Shandong Province. The island covers an area of 12.8 square kilometers and has a coastline stretching 20.02 kilometers, making it the largest island in Shandong Province. The highest point on the island is Huangshan Mountain, which stands at an elevation of 156.1 meters. From north to south, South Changshan Island features attractions including Wangfu Reef, Fairyland Source, Fengshan Mountain, and the Linhai Scenic Area. The island is about 6 kilometers long, and the various scenic spots can be reached on foot, with each around 2–3 kilometers apart.

As a county-level island, Changdao’s county seat is situated on South Changshan Island, in the bustling area of Changdao County. Here, you’ll find large supermarkets, concept youth hostels, luxury hotels, a variety of restaurants, and seafood markets. Major attractions include Linhai Park, Fengshan Park, Mingzhu Square Seaside Bathing Beach, Wangfu Reef (completely closed for conservation reasons), and the Fairyland Source Scenic Area. Even places that aren’t official attractions are beautiful—such as the coastal areas near Wangfu Reef and the areas around the island-connecting bridge.
