Dahuishan Island

Dahuishan Island is located at the westernmost end of the Miaodao Archipelago and covers a relatively large area of approximately 7.47 square kilometers. To its east, near the waters between Beichangshan Island and Miaodao, there is another smaller island called Heishan Island that keeps it company. On Dahuishan Island, the three most famous sights are the pit vipers, ancient tombs, and flint stones.

The scenery of Dahuishan Island: the island is rugged and lush with vegetation. Its head is triangular in shape, and its body is grayish-brown with many spots. From July to September each year, the island is covered with pit vipers everywhere, making it a true "snake island." Although the number and density of pit vipers on Dahuishan Island are not as high as those on the Snake Island near Lao Tieshan in Dalian, its abundant viper resources might still rank it as the second-largest snake island in China.

Dahuishan Island is a well-known snake island in China. In summer, thousands of pit vipers swarm across the mountains and slopes. The drinking water on the island is salty and unpleasant, and the loud sound of the tides at night can keep people awake. Once bad weather leads to a shipping blockade, Dahuishan Island becomes a truly isolated island.
