Houji Island Lighthouse

Houji Island Lighthouse is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Houji Island Lighthouse, located on Houji Island in Changdao County, Yantai City, Shandong Province, China. The lighthouse stands approximately 14 meters tall and primarily provides navigational aid for vessels sailing through the Changshan Channel. It was first built in 1882; during wartime, the lantern of the lighthouse was destroyed; it was rebuilt in 1953 and underwent major renovations in 1974. Its important role is to provide navigational aid for vessels sailing through both the Changshan Channel and the Houji Channel.

On December 7, 2006, it was listed as a Shandong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit; in May 2013, it was included in the National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
