Mengshan Caiyang Scenic Area

Mengshan Caiyang Scenic Area, also known as Wuse Mountain, is one of the top ten scenic spots in Linyi City. It is located in Shuanghou Town in the southwestern part of Yinan at the eastern end of the Mengshan Mountain Range, 30 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Feixian County to the south and is adjacent to Mengyin to the west, covering a total area of 21 square kilometers. The main peak, Caiyangding, stands at an elevation of 762.8 meters, making it the highest peak in Yinan County. The scenic area features gentle sunny slopes and steep shady slopes, with overlapping peaks and crisscrossing ravines. It boasts four-season beauty including spring cherry blossoms, autumn chestnuts, summer waterfalls, and winter snow. There are numerous attractions such as Golden Toad Greets Guests, Fairy Drying Clothes, Green Mountains Layered with Waterfalls, and Dragon Pool for Play, all ingeniously crafted and widely renowned. The forest coverage rate within the scenic area reaches 70%, with over 30,000 acres of woodland and more than 30 varieties of precious tree species. According to measurements by the Ecological Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the area has an air negative ion content of 2.2 million units per cubic centimeter—4,400 times the average near-ground air level, ranking first in the nation. It is hailed as a "natural oxygen bar" and a "health paradise."

The Caiyang Scenic Area has more than 20 attractions. These can be broadly divided into six types: mountain views, water views, forest views, rock views, cave views, and historical sites. Mountain views include Baimalan, Phoenix Cliff, Shengxian Peak, Baibu Ridge, Wuren Gully, and various peaks. Water views consist of Golden Mountain Stream, Old Dragon Bend, Big Heavenly Lake, Small Heavenly Lake, and Three Pools Waterfall. Forest views feature South Screen Green Wind, Sky Carpet Hosting Guests, Daiyu Cherry Beads, and Kan Kan Felling Sandalwood. Rock views comprise Golden Toad Greets Guests, Immortal Trapped in Bush, Fairy Drying Clothes, Big Cart Rock, Bridal Sedan Rock, Sword Cleavage, and Stone Figure. Cave views include Chaoyang Cave and Shenlong Cave. Historical sites encompass Wuse Mountain Villa, the former site of the Daming Times newspaper office, and the battle site of Daqingshan.

The scenic area has a warm temperate semi-humid monsoon climate. With gently sloping sunny sides, steep shady sides, continuous mountain ranges, dense forests, deep valleys, and a warm climate with distinct seasons—spring blossoms, autumn fruits, summer greenery, and winter snow—all form natural landscapes. Known as a "natural oxygen bar," the high mountains often feature flat plateaus, and the dense forests are dotted with meadows. Magical stories can be found everywhere, making it an ideal destination for tourism and leisure.

Mengshan Caiyang Scenic Area is one of the Four Mengs of Mengshan, located in the southwestern part of Yinan County, covering an area of 52 square kilometers. It is part of the Mengshan National Geopark and the Mengshan National AAAA-level Tourist Area.

The Caiyang Scenic Area is commonly known as Wuse Mountain because five peaks are arranged in an arc like five fingers. After rain clears, sunlight refracts through the mist surrounding the five peaks, creating a colorful display—hence the name Wuse Mountain. The soil and climate conditions of the scenic area are suitable for cherry growth. Caiyang cherries are known for their bright color, large size, and delicious taste, enjoying fame far and wide. Black goats are a specialty of Wuse Mountain, attracting many diners with their tender meat and flavorful broth.

The scenic area also boasts rich cultural landscapes. During the war of resistance, historical red sites such as the former site of the Shandong Postal Bureau, the former site of the Masses Daily, and the place where international friend Hans Shippe was martyred are located here.

The scenic area enjoys convenient transportation, being just 30 kilometers from Yinan County, 50 kilometers from Linyi City, and within 5 kilometers of the Beijing-Shanghai and Rizhao-Dongying expressways as well as National Highway 205. The Caiyang Scenic Area warmly welcomes visitors from all over to experience cherry picking, folk culture tours, and leisure travel.
