Yinan Wenhe National Wetland Park

Yinan Wenhe National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

Wenhe Wetland Park is located in Yinan County, stretching from the Huangbu Dam in Zhuanbu Town along the Wenhe River to the Nanzhai section in Jiehu Town. It encompasses three towns: Zhangzhuang Town, Yiwen Town, and Jiehu Subdistrict Office.

To create a national forest city and maximize the wetland’s benefits in ecological improvement, leisure tourism, and science education, Yinan County specially invited experts from the Monitoring and Planning Institute of the National Forestry Administration to plan and design Wenhe Wetland Park.

The plan is to develop the area into an Ecological Protection and Cultivation Zone, a Wetland Ecological Conservation Zone, and a Riverside Wetland Landscape Belt, aiming to secure provincial wetland park approval within the year and national wetland park status by 2013.

On July 3, Wu Qiong and her team from the Monitoring and Planning Institute of the National Forestry Administration arrived in our county to begin planning and designing the wetland park. On July 4, under the accompaniment of the Director of Yinan County Forestry Bureau and others, Expert Group leader Wu Qiong and her team conducted an on-site survey of the Wenhe Wetland Park’s ecology, natural mountain and water formations, terrain, cultural landscapes, as well as the vegetation, terrestrial animals, aquatic organisms of the existing wetlands on both banks, and the current state of socio-economic development and environmental protection utilization in the surrounding areas. They spoke highly of the site. The planning and design work for Wenhe Wetland Park is progressing efficiently, intensively, and in an orderly manner.

Geographic Environment

The planned area covers a total of 2,844.47 hectares, spanning 29.2 kilometers from east to west and 28.6 kilometers from north to south, with the river itself stretching 70 kilometers. Wetland types include permanent river wetlands, floodplain wetlands, and reservoir/pond wetlands. The total wetland area is 1,729.9 hectares, accounting for a wetland ratio of 60.8%.
