The Pingshang Town Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Site in the Lingang Economic Development Zone is located in the northern part of Pingshang Town, about 10 kilometers from the town center. It borders Rizhao City to the east and is 12 kilometers from the coastal Tongsan Expressway. The Yanshi Railway runs directly to the foot of the mountains. The site enjoys a superior geographical location and convenient transportation. The tourism area is surrounded by mountains on three sides, sheltered from the wind and facing the sun, with ample sunlight, plentiful rainfall, and fresh air. It serves as an excellent ecological park for producing high-quality pollution-free agricultural products and an eco-tourism garden that combines flower viewing and fruit picking. The scenic area is planted with fruit trees such as cherries and chestnuts. Current attractions include the Cherry Orchard, Golden Chestnut Garden, Flying Cherry Stream, Lucky Elephant Rock, Tiger’s Mouth, Lion’s Head, Jade Emperor Summit, and the Xiaolongyuan Holiday Resort. Planned future projects include a new greenhouse cherry orchard, Mountain Temple, water amusement park, and holiday resorts. The surrounding area features attractions such as the Lijiazhai Exhibition Hall, Tieniu Temple Iron Meteorite, Sun Tang Memorial Hall, and Garden Stone Carving City, all of which have strong tourism appeal.

The Pingshang Town Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Garden is characterized mainly by its 10,000-mu cherry orchard. The garden integrates cherry blossom viewing, fruit picking, processing, and more. The area has a history of over 200 years in cherry cultivation, and its cherries are widely renowned for their large size, bright color, delicious taste, and early ripening. It is known as the “Hometown of Cherries.” In recent years, the area has leveraged this specialty to vigorously develop the cherry industry. A 10,000-mu ecological cherry tourism garden that combines flower viewing and fruit picking has been established, forming an ecological tourism agriculture pattern described as “a hundred-mile route in one line, a million cherry trees in one garden, ten thousand mu of cherries connected in patches, tens of millions of pounds of cherries not leaving the garden, and farmers’ income increasing by fifty million yuan.”

Since 2005, a Cherry Festival has been held every mid-May. On average, over 100,000 visitors come for the cherry blossoms and tourism during each festival. The organizing committee invites song and dance troupes and theater groups for large-scale performances. Local cultural departments organize various cultural activities among enterprises and schools, with a rich array of artistic competitions, creating a scene reminiscent of a paradise on earth. In 2006, the “Haoli” brand cherries were rated as one of the “Top Ten Brands of Yimeng” by the municipal government, and Pingshang cherries were honored as the “Top Ten Industry Strong Towns with One Village, One Industry.” In 2007, the Pingshang Town Cherry Association base was awarded the title of “Municipal Agricultural Standardization Production Base” by the Linyi Municipal Government. In December 2007, “Haoli” cherries obtained national organic food certification, and in June 2010, the “Haoli” brand cherries were recognized as a well-known high-quality agricultural product brand of Yimeng. The “Haoli” brand cherries attract visitors from all over and have become the top choice for tourists for sightseeing and shopping.
