Zhengjia Ancient Kiln Site

The Zhengjia Ancient Kiln Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Binzhou City.

The Zhengjia Ancient Kiln Site is located at Zhengjia Bridge, about 1,000 meters northwest of Zhengjia Village, Botou Town, Zhanhua County. It stretches 100 meters from east to west and 80 meters from north to south, covering an area of approximately 8,000 square meters. The site was discovered in 1967 during the widening and dredging of the Chao River. The surface is an open flatland, with the Chao River running through the site, and both banks of the riverbanks expose large amounts of gray and red pottery shards as well as some fired clay blocks. The cultural layer lies more than three meters below the surface, consisting of brown soil containing remnants such as red pottery helmets, gray pottery jars, red pottery basins, gray pottery dishes, stone knives, pounding tools, as well as fossils of deer antlers and horse teeth. There are also traces of fired clay and ash pits. Above the cultural layer is a section of the Yellow River's alluvial deposits composed of red, sandy, and jade-like sediments. In 1984, “Four Haves” preservation work was carried out at the kiln site to implement scientific protection. To this day, aside from damage caused by the Chao River running through it, the rest of the kiln site remains buried underground undisturbed. In January 2004, it was designated as part of the first batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units by the Binzhou Municipal People's Government.
