Xifan Site

Xifan Site

The Xifan Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Binzhou City.

The Xifan Site is located about 500 meters south of Xifan Village, Gucheng Town. It spans approximately 100 meters from east to west and 100 meters from north to south, covering an area of around 10,000 square meters. The site was previously higher than its current level but has been leveled due to land leveling by villagers. In some sections, the soil appears grayish-black, and the cultural layer is directly exposed, though its thickness is unclear. The surface is scattered with a considerable number of ceramic fragments. Artifacts unearthed include li tripods, jars, dou stem-cups, and others. Based on field investigations and analysis of samples, this site is a cultural relic location from the Shang Dynasty and is the earliest ancient site discovered in our county, holding significant research and preservation value. In June 2004, it was designated as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit by the Zhanhua County People’s Government. In February 2009, it was announced as a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit by the Binzhou Municipal People’s Government.
