Two Lakes Scenic Area

The scenic area is located 10 kilometers east of Dezhou City and consists of Immortal Lake and Moon Lake. The two lakes are three kilometers apart and are known as the “Sister Lakes.” Immortal Lake gets its name from its proximity to Xianrenqiao Village. Covering an area of 100,000 mu, with a water surface of 7,000 mu and a maximum water storage capacity of 30 million cubic meters, it is the private reservoir of Huaneng Dezhou Power Plant. It was built on land acquired in 1987 and began storing water in 1990. The lake shimmers with ripples, attracts migratory birds, and teems with fish and shrimp. Along the embankment, distinctive fish restaurants line up facing the water, making it an excellent spot for leisure and fishing.

Moon Lake, also known as Dingdong Reservoir, gets its name from its location east of Dingzhuang. The reservoir area spans a total of 85 square kilometers, with a water surface area of 7 square kilometers. It has a designed maximum water depth of 7 meters and a total storage capacity of 50 million cubic meters, with an annual water regulation capacity of 100 million cubic meters. The reservoir supplies water to downtown Dezhou City and Huaneng Dezhou Power Plant through pipelines, and also regulates agricultural water use downstream of the Panzhuang Yellow River Diversion Canal. Construction began in October 1993 and was completed in October 1997, taking four years. The reservoir area is tranquil and well-maintained, with shimmering waters and flocks of gulls, while the surrounding landscape is lined with lush trees. Major attractions and recreational activities include a botanical garden, fishing center, hunting ground, game restaurant, and rare bird base.
