Kangning Lake Scenic Area

Kangning Lake Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Kangning Lake Acrobatics-Themed Cultural Park was planned and designed by the Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning & Design Institute. Located west of Wenchang Road, south of Huanghe Avenue, and east of Ningde Road, it covers a planned area of 1,080 acres with a total investment of 450 million yuan. It is a comprehensive water-themed park integrating acrobatics culture, tourism, leisure, and entertainment, and also serves as a highlight in Ningjin County’s efforts to establish itself as the “Hometown of Acrobatics, Capital of Crickets, and City of Gastronomy.”

The Kangning Lake Acrobatics-Themed Cultural Park takes traditional acrobatics culture of Ningjin as its main element. Its key landscape features include the Golden Clown Acrobatics Culture Boulevard, acrobatics-themed landscape pillars, acrobatics reliefs, and thematic sculptures. These are complemented by traditional architecture complexes, water surfaces, fountains, rockeries, waterfront platforms, and vegetation. The design also employs artistic techniques in scale, form, space, materials, colors, and textures to integrate major sculptures, landscape ornaments, railings, streetlights, signs, labels, outdoor furniture, and trees with acrobatics cultural elements. This creates a distinctive cultural scenic area themed around acrobatic art, linked by acrobatics motifs. Among them, the thematic sculpture “Leap,” inspired by the legend of the carp jumping over the dragon gate, symbolizes the rapid development of Ningjin. Four paper-cut-style landscape pillars showcase the exceptional folk paper-cutting art of Ningjin. The ancient Wenchang Pavilion on the southeast side was reconstructed from the original Confucian Temple built in the eighth year of the Daoguang reign and stands as the park’s iconic structure. At the center of the lake area is a large musical fountain capable of shooting water up to 100 meters high, offering a spectacular sight.

The first phase of the project has been completed, covering an area of 650 acres, including 320 acres of water surface, with a total investment of 400 million yuan. The second phase is currently under construction, covering 430 acres, including 230 acres of water landscape, serving as a continuation and enhancement of the first phase. With unique landscape features such as a large array of thematic sculptures, lakeside classical corridors, viewing waterfront platforms, soft landscaping, hard-surface small plazas, sandy beaches, central lake islands, charming pigeon coops, and lakeside walkways, the project significantly boosts its tourism and aesthetic value. Upon completion, it will play a positive role in improving the urban ecological environment and elevating the cultural tourism image of Ningjin County.
