Jinan Qingxu Taoist Temple

Qingxu Taoist Temple is located on Yuhuang Mountain in the Shizhong District of Jinan City, Shandong Province. It was first built in the sixth year of Dazhong Xiangfu during the reign of Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty, boasting a history of over 800 years. The temple flourished during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and at its peak, hundreds of Taoist practitioners resided here for spiritual cultivation. Qiu Chuji, also known as Changchun Zhenren, the patriarch of the Longmen Sect, once preached and taught Taoist scriptures here.

Yuhuang Mountain is not high and has gentle slopes, but the small hill is covered with lush vegetation, including pine and cypress trees as well as thorny bushes. The main gate of Qingxu Taoist Temple faces south and features a black plaque inscribed with three golden characters reading “Qingxu Taoist Temple.” The architecture boasts upturned eaves and flying corners, guarded by stone lions, giving the site an exceptionally serene and solemn atmosphere. The temple complex is arranged along the central axis of the main gate and includes structures such as the Lingguan Hall, Yuhuang Hall, Wangmu Hall, Bixia Yuanjun Hall, Caishen Hall, Yuanchen Hall, and Sanqing Hall.

Qingxu Taoist Temple is one of the two and a half fully open Taoist temples in Jinan. The current abbot is Daoist Yang Mingzhi, the 20th-generation disciple of the Quanzhen Longmen Sect, and the temple also serves as the location of the Jinan Taoist Association.

Location: Majiazhuang Village, Douguo Subdistrict Office, Shizhong District, Jinan City, 5 kilometers directly south of Jinan West Railway Station.

Transportation: Take bus No. 4 from Jinan Railway Station or Jinan Long-Distance Bus Terminal, transfer to bus No. 117 or K98, get off at the west side of Lashan Overpass, then transfer to bus No. 61 and get off at Majiazhuang North.

Other routes:

1. Take bus No. 86 from the Fifth Municipal Hospital southbound, get off at Dangjiazhuang Town, then take a taxi about 5 kilometers north to reach the temple.

2. Take bus No. 81 from Daguan Garden or the Fifth Municipal Hospital to the terminus at the Army Academy, then take a taxi about 4 kilometers west to reach the temple.

3. Take bus No. 78, K56, or No. 38 from in front of the Fifth Municipal Hospital to Dayangzhuang (or Jinzhuang South), then take a taxi about 5 kilometers south to reach the temple.

4. Take bus No. 9 or No. 74 within the urban area to the terminus at Shandong Construction Machinery Factory, then take a taxi about 5 kilometers west to reach the temple.
