Heroes Mountain Martyrs' Cemetery

Heroes Mountain Martyrs' Cemetery is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Shandong Province.

Heroes Mountain Martyrs' Cemetery is located at the western foot of Heroes Mountain (formerly known as Sili Mountain), Wuli Mountain, and Ma'an Mountain in Jinan City. It was constructed in April 1949 by the Shandong Provincial Revolutionary Martyrs' Tower Construction Committee, completed in 1968, and covers an area of 390,000 square meters. The cemetery is built against the mountain and surrounded by pine and cypress trees. At the summit of the northern part stands the Revolutionary Martyrs' Memorial Tower, which has a total height of 34.64 meters, a rectangular plan, and is built from milky white granite. The north and south sides of the tower are inscribed with the seven characters "Revolutionary Martyrs' Memorial Tower" written by Mao Zedong. In the eastern part of the cemetery is the Revolutionary Martyrs' Memorial Hall, with a construction area of 1,200 square meters. The hall displays the names of over 220,000 revolutionary martyrs from Shandong Province and portraits of 80 notable martyrs. Through charts, photographs, and physical exhibits, it introduces the deeds of martyrs such as Wang Jinmei, Deng Enming, and Liu Qianchu, as well as the heroic achievements of the "Jinan First Regiment" and "Jinan Second Regiment," which were honored by the Central Military Commission during the Battle of Jinan. The southern part is the martyrs' burial ground. Amidst lush pines and cypresses lie the remains of 1,502 revolutionary martyrs, including early leaders of the Communist Party of China in Shandong such as Wang Jinmei, Lu Bojun, and Liu Qianchu. There are also 786 named and 716 unnamed martyrs who died in the Battle of Jinan.
