Dongbajing Jiuding Mountain

Located in Dongbajing Village, Guanzhuang Township, Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province, it is 40 kilometers from Jinan International Airport. Dongshi Road leads directly to the scenic area, while Jiwang Highway runs along its southern edge. This mountainous natural scenic area resembles the Jiulong Grand Canyon in Laiwu. The valley features towering ancient trees, dramatic peaks on both sides, and is home to mountains, springs, waterfalls, and caves, all of which remain in their pristine state. The area boasts a rich landscape of canyons and mountain ranges, and is renowned for its serene, narrow canyon streams and pristine natural ecological environment.

Dongbajing Forest Park covers a total area of 14,500 mu. Its main peak, Jiuding Mountain (833 meters), is the highest peak within Zhangqiu. The area is shaded by lush green trees, abundant in flowers and fruit, with dense foliage and intertwined vines. Streams meander through the undulating red stone and emerald peaks, twisting and turning through narrow gorges. The terrain seems dominated by the mountains, while the water seeks passage through the rocks, creating a world apart. It is a natural oxygen bar, often hailed as the “Lungs of Jinan,” with a forest coverage rate of over 85%. The deep valleys are covered in dense woods, with perennial flowing springs and waterfalls, fresh air, birdsong and floral fragrance in all seasons, and an exceptionally high concentration of negative ions. In addition, the scenic area is also rich in various natural Chinese medicinal herbs, including over 100 types such as scorpions, bupleurum, skullcap, polygala, and fleeceflower root.

Chanziling: Legend has it that during Emperor Taizong of Tang Li Shimin’s eastern campaign, one of the imperial consorts accompanying the army gave birth to a prince here after ten months of pregnancy. Li Shimin then named this valley Chanziling (Childbirth Ridge). The area is dotted with peaks and covered in lush vegetation, making it a great destination for exploring history and nature.

Dishuiquan (Dripping Water Spring): The spring has a drop of over ten meters. During the flood season, the water cascades down like a waterfall, while in dry periods, the dripping continues year-round. It is often said that constant dripping wears away the stone—over time, the constant dripping has formed a basin the size of a washbasin on the bluestone slab beneath the spring. In winter, the dripping water freezes into icicles, hanging like silver pillars, creating a spectacular sight.

Lingziquan (Fertility Spring): It is said that drinking the water from this spring can lead to the birth of a precious child, hence the name Lingziquan (Fertility Spring). Legend has it that the Goddess of Mount Tai used her divine powers to place celestial medicine in the water.
