The Zhangqiu Baocelery National Vegetable Base is located in Baojia Village, Xinzhai Town, 25 kilometers west of Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport and 5 kilometers south of the Jiqing Expressway. The land in Baojia Village was formed by the alluvial deposits of the ancient Lahe River, featuring flat terrain and soil with a mixture of white sand and clay, rich in various minerals such as zinc, copper, iron, manganese, iodine, calcium, magnesium, and sodium. The climate, rainfall, temperature, and soil conditions all provide an excellent growing environment for Baojia celery.

According to the "Zhangqiu Annals," the cultivation history of Baojia celery dates back over 500 years. Tall, solid, crisp, and sweet are the defining characteristics of Baojia celery in both appearance and taste. During harvest season, the celery plants can reach 80–120 centimeters in height; the stems are solid, not hollow, with no strings or residue when eaten, offering a crisp, tender texture and a refreshing, delicious flavor. Both the stems and leaves are edible, with a sweet and fragrant taste, earning it the reputation as a premium "fruit and vegetable" delicacy.

In 2008, Baojia celery received organic conversion product certification from the National Ministry of Agriculture; in 2009, it was approved as a Jinan Modern Agriculture Characteristic Brand Base and was named one of the top ten famous and high-quality agricultural products in Jinan and Zhangqiu; in 2010, it was designated by the National Ministry of Agriculture as a national-level demonstration area for standardized vegetable garden construction; in April of this year, it entered the Shanghai Expo site as one of the designated organic vegetable suppliers.
