Sanjianxi Village is located in Zhangqiu City, eastern Jinan. The Jiaoji Railway runs through the village, National Highway 309 is 1 kilometer away, and Provincial Highway 102 is 1.5 kilometers away. It lies to the west of Shiji East Road, offering extremely convenient transportation. Sanjianxi Village is an ancient settlement composed of three natural villages: Dongjianxi, Xijianxi, and Beijianxi. It boasts a long history, rich cultural heritage, and unique humanistic landscape.

Beneath the ancient village lies an intricate network of underground tunnels. According to experts, these were built during the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, with a history of over 600 years. The ancient tunnels are multi-layered, ingeniously structured, winding and twisting, interconnected between households, and stretch up to 5 kilometers in length. They are truly unique, not only in Zhangqiu City but also across Shandong Province. The above-ground residences are simple and elegant, representing typical Ming and Qing architectural styles.

The “Ancient Weir Folk Custom Manor” has restored and rebuilt the ancient Weir walls of Jianxi from the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty. The manor displays tools and utensils used by people in ancient times for production, daily life, worship, and warfare. Strolling through the manor, one can’t help but feel a sense of the weight of history.

Self-driving Guide:

Take [highway] — exit at Jinan East Toll Station. After exiting, drive 25.5 kilometers along National Highway 309 toward Zibo, then turn right onto Shiji East Road in Zhangqiu City. Drive 1.4 kilometers along Shiji East Road and enter Qilu Underground Ancient Village – Sanjianxi Village on the east side of the road. Travel time is approximately 40 minutes.
