Situated in the southern mountainous region of Zhangqiu, Jinan, where forests are lush and life flourishes, this idyllic paradise hides a place called Colorful Mountain Village. Centered around five remote villages — Shiba Pan, Dongcheche, Xicheche, Xiaoshiwu, and Xilihu — the village is developed into a comprehensive tourism destination themed around “flower-covered mountains, stoned hamlets, clear springs, open fields, and green woods.”

Stroll through Dongcheche Village, themed “open fields,” and admire its pristine natural village appearance and scenery, immersing yourself in an eco-village experience as wild as the fields. Meanwhile, Shiba Pan Village, themed “stoned hamlet,” features stone tablets, stone wells, and stone houses everywhere.

“Open Fields” is an eco-village experience area created using the original natural village look and scenery of Dongcheche, offering the main gathering and distribution functions for the “Colorful Mountain Village” tourism.

“Stoned Hamlet” is designed around the stone tablets, stone wells, and stone houses of Shiba Pan Village, which is surrounded by mountains on three sides with rugged rocks, creating a “mountain and stone” themed village that offers fitness, adventure, entertainment, and leisure services to visitors.

“Flower-Covered Mountains” is based on the wildflowers blanketing Xiaoshiwu Village, establishing the foundational tone of “Colorful Mountain Village” where blossoms cover the village and their fragrance drifts for miles.

“Clear Springs” centers around the perennial springs of Xicheche Village, creating a riverside leisure and recreation destination in the mountain village.

“Green Woods” responds to the dense forests and lush greenery of Xilihu Village, providing visitors with a natural oxygen bar and showcasing the tranquil beauty of “Colorful Mountain Village.”

Stepping into Cuiyunxuan, one’s eyes are filled with emerald bamboo — perfectly capturing the essence of Wu Cheng’en’s poetry. Entering from the courtyard into the rooms, there are two guest rooms with a pastoral style and strong rural charm, making you feel as if you’ve returned to childhood. “How many wanderers far from home borrow a fence to watch the autumn wind.” The unrestrained Tang Yin must have seen all the splendors of the world before returning to simplicity. The red-tiled, stone-walled, and earthen “Qiuliluo” brings instant tranquility, with ancient trees and fields offering rare freedom.

Walking along the winding path that spirals upward, you’ll see a catalpa tree. Mu Youju (Woodland Seclusion), named after it, is a typical quadrangle courtyard themed around wood and natural elements. It has three guest rooms, a bar, and a kitchen, with bluestone paths in the yard giving off a youthful vibe. Another touching courtyard is “Huayinong” (Deep Floral Affection), where the entire space is poetic and natural, evoking the feeling of “a gentle breeze and faint ink bring light poetry, while enchanting flowers bring deep affection.” Every step presents a new scene, reminiscent of the profound serenity of a Zen garden amid blossoms.

Each homestay courtyard features a variety of farming tools, highlighting the distinctive character of a rural home. Inside the rooms, hotel-like amenities such as large bathtubs, air conditioners, and sofas are readily available. The blend of traditional rural charm and modern facilities creates a high-end experience where the “rustic and the refined” complement each other.

Hongshan Cuigu Scenic Area

“Hongshan Cuigu” (Red Mountain Emerald Valley) is one of the five major themed projects of “Colorful Mountain Village.” Zhangqiu District, focusing on poverty alleviation, leveraged its tourism resource advantages and adopted a “tourism + poverty alleviation” model to develop the “Colorful Mountain Village” rural tourism project. Since its launch, it has received over 5,000 visitors, hosted nearly 2,000 for dining and lodging, generated over 200,000 yuan in revenue, boosted the sales of local agricultural specialties by nearly 300,000 yuan, and helped increase the town’s overall tourism income by more than 3 million yuan. To date, the project has provided jobs for over 30 surplus rural laborers and helped more than 20 impoverished households escape poverty.

The Hongshan Cuigu Scenic Area boasts beautiful natural scenery with mountains and water in harmony. The area is planned with a comprehensive layout of “one core, one loop, and four clusters.” The “one core” refers to the Red Leaf Viewing Core, where surrounding red leaf forests are organized to create a central viewing zone. The “one loop” is the Colorful Leisure Tour Loop, which utilizes existing roads to build colored forest trails and hiking paths for close-up views. The “four clusters” include the “Comprehensive Service Cluster,” “Hundred-Mile Gallery Cluster,” “Flower Sea and Colorful Forest Cluster,” and “Lake and Mountain Views Cluster.” Planned facilities such as a visitor service center, ecological parking lot, and fairy fruit bar enhance and improve service offerings.
