Sandefan Xuan Di Pavilion and Yuwang Temple

Sandefan Xuan Di Pavilion and Yuwang Temple are cultural heritage sites protected at the provincial level in Shandong Province.

Sandefan Xuan Di Pavilion and Yuwang Temple are located in Sandefan Village, Wenzu Subdistrict, Zhangqiu District. Protected area: For Xuan Di Pavilion, the north boundary is the east-west extended line of the northern wall foundation of Qijia Lane, the south boundary is four meters south of Taiping Gate (the northern foundation of the central bridge), the west boundary is the eastern bank of the Balou River, and the east boundary is four meters east of the eastern wall foundation of Xuan Di Pavilion. For Yuwang Temple, the protected area extends one meter outward from the current courtyard walls. The construction control zone is the same as the protected area.

Xuan Di Pavilion faces south and has a rectangular layout. Its platform is built with rough stones, and the pavilion structure is made of brick and wood. It has a total width of 12.8 meters and a depth of 7.72 meters, covering an area of 98.82 square meters. Yuwang Temple is situated on a high terrace in the southern part of Sandefan Village, also facing south, with a width of three bays and a flush gable roof style. The existing structures of Yuwang Temple include the mountain gate and the main hall, covering an area of approximately 100 square meters.

The exact year of construction and the builder of Xuan Di Pavilion are unknown. It was renovated in the seventh year of the Yongzheng reign (1729), the forty-fifth year of the Qianlong reign (1780), the sixth year of the Daoguang reign (1824), and underwent maintenance in 1983. In July 2013, the roof of Xuan Di Pavilion was repaired, including re-laying tiles, constructing a new ridge and hip ridges, and replacing two decayed eave columns in the central bay.

Yuwang Temple originated during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty, though the exact date is unclear. Two renovation steles stand outside the mountain gate. It was renovated in the fifty-seventh year of the Qianlong reign (1792) and the twenty-third year of the Daoguang reign (1843).

On June 23, 2015, Sandefan Xuan Di Pavilion and Yuwang Temple were designated as part of the fifth batch of Provincial-Level Cultural Heritage Protection Units by the People's Government of Shandong Province.
