Huixian Hall
Huixian Hall is a municipal-level cultural heritage site of Beijing.
Huixian Hall is located at No. 18 Qianhai North Bank, Xicheng District, and is among the seventh batch of municipal-level cultural heritage sites protected by Beijing.
It is one of the Eight Great Halls of Beijing and was originally the residence of Bin Ru, a minister of the Ministry of Rites during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. In the 16th year of the Guangxu reign (1890), people from Jinan, Shandong, opened Huixian Hall Restaurant here. At that time, it was a gathering place for literati and artists, and also hosted private theatrical performances due to the presence of a stage. Covering an area of nearly 3,000 square meters with a construction area of about 1,800 square meters, the main building has been converted into a two-story structure, spanning twelve bays. The door lintel is inscribed with the words “Gathering of the Literati.”
