Xiaomaqing Village is located 3 kilometers south of Yanzhou City proper, with 323 households and a population of 1,297. It was designated as a Shandong Province tourism characteristic village in 2008. The village has a certain historical background, with a long-standing history. Within the village stands a stone tablet inscribed with “Record of the Pagoda Made by Fan Hong’en,” erected in the second year of the Tang Dynasty's Shenlong era. The name “Maqing” first appeared on a Ming Dynasty tombstone. According to legend, at the southeastern edge of the village during the early Ming Dynasty, there was a military camp surrounded by horse pastures with lush green grass, from which the village got its name. It later split into two villages, with the smaller one being called Xiaomaqing, in contrast to the larger Damaqing to the south. Over the years, Xiaomaqing Village has placed great emphasis on developing tourism, actively promoting the village’s economic and social development. A village tourism development leadership group was established, headed by the Party branch secretary and comprising heads of relevant village departments. Tourism development was treated with equal importance as overall economic growth, with coordinated planning and implementation, which significantly boosted the rapid development of local tourism and yielded notable results. The village was designated as an “Agricultural One-Day Tour” attraction by the Yanzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.

Leveraging its advantages and focusing on integration with modern sightseeing agriculture. Xiaomaqing Village is adjacent to the Jining Agricultural High-Tech Demonstration Park. This park, built upon a national-level agricultural tourism demonstration site, passed the national “AAA”-rated tourist scenic area inspection and acceptance in 2007. The park houses 30,000 square meters of modern intelligent greenhouses equipped with domestically leading facilities, 100,000 square meters of solar greenhouses, and a 6,000-square-meter large-scale flower trading market. It encompasses twelve functional centers, including the Biotechnology Engineering Center, Tropical Orchid Center, Exotic Fruit Center, Specialty Vegetable Center, Factory Seedling Cultivation Center, Microbial Engineering Center, Fresh-Cut Flower Center, and Soilless Cultivation Center. The demonstration zone currently hosts eight major leading enterprises, such as Shandong Lüjin Bio-Tech Co., Ltd. and the Sino-foreign joint venture Yanzhou Jialong Industrial Co., Ltd., along with over 30 specialized companies. It has introduced more than 800 high-quality domestic and international varieties, over 200 advanced agricultural technologies, and established partnerships with more than 20 research institutions and over 30 experts from both China and abroad. Most of its projects have filled gaps in Shandong Province and Jining City. In 2007, the park received over 20,000 domestic and international visitors, achieving an output value of 600 million yuan. It plays a strong exemplary, radiating, and driving role, effectively promoting the visibility of Xiaomaqing Village and boosting its tourism industry.
