Longwandian Site

The Longwandian Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Jining City.

The Longwandian Site is located in Longwandian Village, Da’an Town, Yanzhou District. It dates back to ancient times and is classified as an ancient site.

The Longwandian Site is situated south of Longwandian Village in Da’an Town, 150 meters west of the Si River and 200 meters east of the Jinpu Railway. It measures 100 meters in both north-south and east-west directions. With rich cultural content and over 4 meters of stratified deposits, it is a site of the Longshan Culture. In April 1982, the Cultural Relics Management Office of Jining Region conducted a small-scale excavation here. Over 130 artifacts were unearthed, predominantly made of black pottery with clay body, gray pottery mixed with sand, and brown pottery, with a small number of red pottery, eggshell pottery, and white-bodied pottery. The decorative patterns mainly include string patterns, bosses, stamped patterns, blind noses, and “ghost faces.” The artifacts comprise mainly tripods, jars, basins, urns, cups, pots, bowls, and vessel lids. The site has suffered severe damage. In 1984, it was designated as a county-level key cultural relic protection unit. According to Yanzhou Government Document No. 28 (2009), the protected area is defined with the marker stele as the center point: 50 meters east, 50 meters west, 100 meters south, and up to the marker stele in the north. The construction control zone extends 50 meters outward from the boundary of the protected area.

On December 26, 2016, the Jining Municipal People’s Government announced it as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units in Jining City.
