Marquis Tang’s Mansion

Marquis Tang’s Mansion is a cultural heritage site protected at the district level in Yanzhou.

Marquis Tang’s Mansion is located in Wei Yuan Community, Gulou Subdistrict Office, Yanzhou City. It was originally built as a residence by Prince Lu Jing for his son-in-law, Tang Wenzan. It is the only surviving Ming Dynasty building in Yanzhou City with a history of over 600 years, and also the former home of the modern historical figure, Nationalist general Tang Yongxian. The existing structures include the main hall and east and west wing rooms, each consisting of three bays, all built with brick and wood and featuring flush gable roofs. The main hall is 10.5 meters wide and 6.5 meters deep; its original tubular tile roof has been replaced with a modern one, and other parts have also undergone many alterations. Marquis Tang’s Mansion provides important physical evidence for the study of the living conditions and architectural styles of the noble class during the Ming Dynasty. In October 2009, it was approved and announced by the People's Government of Yanzhou City as part of the third batch of Yanzhou Municipal Cultural Heritage Protection Units.
