Site of Liugulujie

The Site of Liugulujie is a protected cultural heritage site under the jurisdiction of Jining City.

The Site of Liugulujie is located about 1,000 meters west of Liugulujie Village, Xinyan Town, Yanzhou City, on flat terrain. The site stretches approximately 400 meters from east to west and 350 meters from north to south, covering an area of about 14,000 square meters. It contains cultural remains from multiple historical periods including the Zhou, Han, and Song–Yuan dynasties. The cultural strata are about 2 meters thick, and the surface yields a rich abundance of artifacts. Artifacts collected at the site include fragments of bricks and tiles, sherds of gray pottery and red pottery such as dou (food vessels), guan (jars), and pen (basins), as well as a large number of porcelain shards. Many pottery pieces feature cord-marked decorations. The site is relatively well-preserved. This discovery provides important evidence for studying the social development of these various historical periods. In October 2009, it was approved and announced by the People’s Government of Yanzhou City as part of the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage sites in Yanzhou City, and in November 2012, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site under Jining City.
