Dingxi Ruins

The Dingxi Ruins are a protected cultural heritage site of Jining City.

The Dingxi Ruins are situated about 200 meters northwest of Dingxi Village, Yandian Town, Yanzhou District. The terrain is slightly higher than the surrounding areas, covering an area of around 10,000 square meters in an irregular quadrilateral shape. These are remains from the Neolithic Dawenkou and Longshan cultures, with a cultural layer about 1.5 meters thick. A wealth of artifacts are visible on the surface and in exposed strata, mainly consisting of clay red pottery and clay gray pottery, along with sand-tempered red pottery, sand-tempered gray pottery, and clay black pottery. The decorative patterns are mostly string patterns and applied ridges. The site is generally well-preserved and provides important evidence for studying the developmental sequence, level of productivity, and social structure of the Dawenkou and Longshan cultures. In October 2009, it was approved and announced as part of the third batch of Yanzhou Municipal Cultural Heritage Protection Units by the Yanzhou Municipal People's Government, and in November 2012, it was designated as a Jining Municipal Cultural Heritage Protection Unit.
