Confucius Six Arts City is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism site.

Located at the eastern end of Chunqiu Road in the southern part of the city, Confucius Six Arts City is a large-scale cultural tourism city built around the “Six Arts” (Rites, Music, Archery, Charioteering, Calligraphy, and Mathematics) taught by Confucius—the great ancient Chinese thinker, educator, and founder of Confucianism. With the goal of promoting China’s excellent traditional culture, it employs modern high-tech methods to offer an engaging experience that blends knowledge and fun. It is now a national 4A-level scenic area.

Constructed in 1992, Confucius Six Arts City covers an area of 13 hectares with a building area of 60,000 square meters. The city features beautifully landscaped gardens, grand indoor attractions rich in cultural content, a wide variety of fascinating amusement facilities, as well as classical and elegant palace architecture equipped with complete functions and distinctive performances of ancient music and dance. There are eight main attractions in the city: Confucius’ Travels to the Feudal States, the Hall of Rites, the Hall of Calligraphy, the Hall of Charioteering, the Hall of Music, the Hall of Archery, the Hall of Mathematics, and others. These allow visitors to absorb the essence of traditional culture through an educational and entertaining experience, while also appreciating the exquisite beauty of modern art.

Confucius Six Arts City is located at No. 15, Chunqiu Road, Southern New District, Qufu City. Centered on the “Six Arts”—Rites, Music, Archery, Charioteering, Calligraphy, and Mathematics—that the great ancient Chinese thinker, educator, statesman, and founder of Confucianism, Confucius, advocated throughout his life, the city uses modern high-tech means such as sound, light, and electricity, and is designed through music, art, and architecture. It is a large-scale cultural tourism destination integrating knowledge, entertainment, participation, history, fun, as well as shopping, dining, travel, and amusement. Built in 1992 and opened in September 1993, the city spans 13 hectares, with a construction area of 60,000 square meters and a total investment of 66 million yuan. It features beautifully landscaped gardens, majestic indoor attractions rich in cultural significance, fascinating and diverse amusement facilities, as well as classical and elegant palace buildings and unique performances of ancient music and dance that leave visitors in awe.

Interpreting the Six Arts in a unique way and promoting the outstanding thoughts and culture of Confucius, the Six Arts City has become a classic example of “blending the ancient with the modern.” In 1997, it was recognized as a “Famous Tourist Scenic Spot in China” by the China Tourism Association, the Cultural Relics Association, and others. Along with the Three Confucian Sites in Qufu, it is hailed as the “Three Sites and One City.” Spanning five thousand years and reaching across ninety thousand miles, the Confucius Six Arts City in Qufu masterfully presents the Six Arts, making it a global focal point for understanding Confucius, gaining wisdom, and exploring Eastern civilization.
