Wujia Village, Xiaoxue Subdistrict – Provincial-Level Tourism Characteristic Village

Wujia Village in Xiaoxue Subdistrict is located 2 kilometers from the subdistrict office. To the east and north, it faces Jiulong Mountain, to the west lies Fucun—the birthplace of Mencius—and to the south, it borders Zoucheng City. The village boasts fertile soil and is rich in historical and cultural relics in the mountainous area. Major cultural heritage sites include the Longshan Han Lu King Tombs, one of China’s major national protected heritage sites, and the Jiulong Mountain Cliff Carvings, a Shandong Provincial-Level protected heritage site.

Wujia Village has positioned itself for eco-tourism development, striving to become a renowned ecological tourism village at both the provincial and municipal levels. Leveraging cultural advantages such as the culture of Mencius’ mother and Jiulong Mountain, and focusing on building an eco-tourism village, the village centers around the six elements of “eating, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment.” It adopts a model combining “heritage site tours + cultural experiences + cherry blossom viewing + agritainment,” constructing a new cultural tourism framework driven by “one sightseeing route, supported by two key projects, and radiated through three major folk culture experience zones.” The “one sightseeing route” refers to a tourism trail connecting Jiulong Mountain, the Han Tombs, cliff carvings, and the ten-thousand-mu cherry blossom source. The “two key projects” involve developing the ten-thousand-mu cherry blossom source and the Mencius’ Mother Culture Experience Park—two ongoing projects that support tourism economic growth. The “three major folk culture experience zones” consist of the Wujia Village Folk Culture Experience Zone, the Agritainment Experience Zone, and the Cultural and Sports Square Leisure Zone.

Wujia Village actively carries out village environmental improvements, enhances infrastructure, and has implemented tap water system upgrades, rural power grid renovations, adobe house renovations, and biogas digester improvements. The village now enjoys centralized gas supply. Additionally, it has undertaken three major tasks: road resurfacing, heritage-style renovations, and greening, while deeply engaging in activities to green, brighten, beautify, and purify the home environment.
