Wei Family Tombs

The Wei Family Tombs are a cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.

The Wei Family Tombs are a burial site of the Wei family from the Han Dynasty to modern times. Located on the southern bank of Dongweijiazhuang Reservoir in Dongzhuang Township, Qufu City, they stretch approximately 150 meters from east to west and 300 meters from north to south. Originally, there were over 1,000 tombs, more than 100 tombstones, and about 500 trees of various species including pines, cypresses, and poplars. Between 1966 and 1967, all the trees were cut down and the tombstones were almost entirely destroyed. In 1978, the tomb area was leveled to the ground to excavate soil for dam construction during the reservoir's renovation.

(1) Location: Weijiazhuang Village, Shimen Mountain Town, Qufu City.

(2) Protected Area: With the southwest corner of the dam (35°46′01″N, 117°03′44″E) as the reference point, it extends 300 meters east, 150 meters south, 150 meters west, and 150 meters north.

(3) Construction Control Zone: An additional 50 meters outward from the outer boundary of the protected area.

Shimen Mountain Town: Located in the northeastern part of Qufu City, Shimen Mountain Town borders Tai'an to the north and Sishui to the east. It covers a total area of 84.2 square kilometers, governs 54 natural villages and 35 administrative villages, with a population of 48,000.

The northern part is mainly mountainous and hilly, with continuous ranges suitable for the development of forestry, fruit farming, and animal husbandry, while the southern part features flat terrain with fertile soil ideal for growing grain and cash crops.
