The Former Site of Xianyuan County

The Former Site of Xianyuan County is a Shandong Provincial Cultural Heritage Conservation Unit.

The Former Site of Xianyuan County is located in Jiucun Village, Shuyuan Subdistrict Office, Qufu City, Jining, Shandong Province. It is one of the cultural heritage conservation units of Shandong Province, People's Republic of China.

On December 7, 2006, it was designated as a Shandong Provincial Cultural Heritage Conservation Unit. It is an ancient site that served as the county seat of Xianyuan County (formerly Qufu County; during the Song Dynasty, Qufu County was renamed Xianyuan County in honor of the Yellow Emperor) from the Song to the Ming dynasties.

(1) Location: Jiucun Village, Shuyuan Subdistrict, Qufu City.

(2) Protected Area: 10 meters outside the moat.

(3) Construction Control Zone: 50 meters outward from the boundary of the protected area.

Shuyuan Subdistrict: Located in the old urban area, Shuyuan Subdistrict hosts over 100 municipal and district-level institutions, with a resident population of more than 50,000. Through coordination by the District Culture and Sports Bureau, the city library extended its services by establishing its first service point in Shuyuan Community.

Shuyuan Subdistrict was established as a district in 1965, renamed Dongfeng Commune in 1968, reverted to its original name Shuyuan Commune in 1980, became a district again in 1984, changed to a township in 1986, upgraded to a town in 1997, and finally became a subdistrict in 2000.

Shuyuan Subdistrict is named after Zhushu Academy.
