Shouqiu in Qufu
Shouqiu is located 4 kilometers east of Qufu city, in the east of Jiuxian Village. According to ancient historical records, it is the birthplace of the Yellow Emperor. Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty built the Jingling Palace here to worship the Yellow Emperor and honored him as the founding ancestor. The Jingling Palace originally had 1,320 rooms, featuring a jade-carved statue of the emperor and using the highest ceremonial rites of the Imperial Ancestral Temple for worship. Unfortunately, the temple was destroyed in the late Yuan Dynasty. The site has now been turned into a park. The stone steles in the park are the largest in China. The park currently covers an area of 37 mu, with towering twin steles reflected in a pool, and to the north lies the Shaohao Mausoleum.
