Qufu Confucius Museum

The Qufu Confucius Museum (ConfuciusMuseumInQufu), located at No. 100 Kongzi Avenue, Qufu City, Shandong Province, is a museum built to commemorate Confucius, comprehensively showcase his philosophies, and promote traditional culture represented by Confucianism. It was officially opened on September 6, 2019.

Covering a site area of 165,000 square meters, the Qufu Confucius Museum has a total floor space of 55,000 square meters, with an exhibition area of 17,000 square meters. The main building features a Han-style architectural design and houses a collection of 700,000 cultural relics. The upper-level exhibition hall presents the basic display "Great indeed was Confucius!", which consists of a prelude hall and five sections. The prelude hall provides a general introduction to Confucius through multimedia projections, while the five sections cover The Era of Confucius, The Life of Confucius, The Wisdom of Confucius, Confucius and Chinese Civilization, and Confucius and World Civilization. The lower-level exhibition hall features the basic display "Poetry and Ritual Passed Down Through Generations", divided into three units: Enduring Legacy, Confucius Mansion Archives, and Qufu Heritage. Additionally, there are special temporary exhibition halls.

On September 25, 2018, the Qufu Confucius Museum was approved as a National Second-Class Museum in China; on September 20, 2019, the construction project of the Qufu Confucius Museum was awarded the 2018 Jining Construction Engineering Quality “Canal Cup” Prize.

The Qufu Confucius Museum is located at No. 100 Kongzi Avenue, Qufu City, Shandong Province.

Opening Hours

Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:00. Closed on Mondays (except national public holidays).
