Gushan Scenic Area in Zaozhuang is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Gushan Scenic Area is located in Mengzhuang Town, Shizhong District, Zaozhuang City, about 15 kilometers from downtown Zaozhuang. The mountain stands at an elevation of 331 meters, and the scenic area covers 2.38 million square meters. The site currently features dozens of attractions, including major ones such as a karst cave, Guanyin Hall, a mountain stronghold, a mummy ancient tomb, Nine-Dragon Stone, Eagle Stone, Bagua Garden, Monkey Mountain, and a water park. The winds of reform and opening-up have allowed this long-sealed historic mountain to present itself to the world with a brand-new look.

Gushan has a long history. From the Shang Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, traces of human activity can be found all over the mountain top. A finely carved Bagua (Eight Trigrams) diagram, the incense-filled Purple Cloud Taoist Temple, and the majestic ancient mountain stronghold are still faintly visible. The mountain features imposing peaks, uniquely shaped rocks, and lush forests. In spring, it blooms into a sea of flowers; in autumn, it’s laden with fruit, and remains verdant all year round. At the foot of the mountain lies Zhoucun Reservoir, its shimmering waters and leaf-like boats creating a breathtaking view. The interplay between the mountain and the water enhances each other’s beauty, forming a vivid landscape painting. The No. 1 Karst Cave in Southern Shandong is even more astonishing. Stretching over 600 meters, the cave system is interconnected and crisscrossed. Inside, stalactites hang upside down, stone pillars stand densely, dripping sounds echo softly, and towering stone walls rise majestically—both wondrous and spectacular. Especially notable are the stalactites and stone pillars, which come in a myriad of shapes and forms, incredibly lifelike.
