Nandayan Site

The Nandayan Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Nandayan Site is located about 0.5 kilometers southeast of Dingzhuang Village, Xiwangzhuang Town, Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province. It measures approximately 100 meters from east to west and 50 meters from north to south, taking the form of a raised terrace. Below the cultivated soil, cultural layers extend over 2 meters in depth, featuring clear traces of ash pits, red fired earth, charcoal remains, and a large quantity of pottery shards. Among the collected sandy red pottery fragments are leg parts of li tripods, ding tripod feet, jar rims, dou vessel bases, spindle whorls, etc., with decorative patterns including cord marks, appliqué ridges, net patterns, and fingernail impressions. Other finds include clam sickles, deer horn tools, and whetstones. The Huanglou Site is situated about 150 meters northwest of Huanglou Village, covering a current area of 750 square meters. Artifacts collected here include broken sandy or clay pottery pieces such as li tripods, jars, gui vessels, bowls, and cups, mostly gray or brown pottery, with very few red or white pottery items; additionally, there are polished single-edged stone shovels and stone knives.

In 2013, the Nandayan Site was designated as part of the fourth batch of Provincial-Level Cultural Heritage Protection Units by the People’s Government of Shandong Province.
