Xingtai Guo Shoujing Memorial Hall serves as a base for science education and patriotic education.

Guo Shoujing (1231–1316), courtesy name Ruosi, was a native of Xingtai, Hebei. He was an outstanding expert in astronomy, water conservancy, mathematics, and instrument manufacturing during China’s Yuan Dynasty. His scientific and technological achievements numbered more than a dozen, many of which were far ahead of the world at the time, making tremendous contributions to the advancement of human science.

The Guo Shoujing Memorial Hall is situated in the picturesque Dahuoquan Park in Xingtai City, Hebei Province. Covering an area of 50,000 square meters with a building area of 4,700 square meters, its main structures feature architectural styles from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Currently, the site includes a bronze statue of Guo Shoujing, an observatory platform, four exhibition halls, and an astronomical observation station. It also houses replicas of instruments that Guo himself invented or used, such as the simplified armilla, the armillary sphere, and the sundial instrument. Additionally, there are sand tables and dioramas depicting his achievements in astronomy, land surveying, and water conservancy, including the Xingtai Water Control Project, the Western Xia Water Control Project, the Dadu Water Control Project, the Four Seas Survey, and the Space Plaza. With its majestic architecture, innovative displays, and serene surroundings, the Guo Shoujing Memorial Hall has received widespread praise from visitors. It has been designated as a key tourism site by Hebei Province, named a Hebei Provincial Patriotic Education Base by the Hebei Provincial Party Committee and Government, recognized as a National Science Education Base by the China Association for Science and Technology, and honored as a National Youth Science and Technology Education Base by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Education, and the China Association for Science and Technology.
