Dahuquan Park

Historically, the area around Xingtai was home to one of the rare large spring regions in North China, where hundreds of springs gushed forth and sweet waters competed to overflow, creating the natural wonder of "springs encircling Xingtai." Among them, the most famous spring is Dahuquan. Dahuquan was once one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Niu City (Xingtai’s historical nickname), and later the spring was developed into a park, which also houses the Guo Shoujing Memorial Hall.

The Guo Shoujing Science and Technology Park is located in the southeastern part of the park. The entire park features classical Chinese garden architectural elements such as corridors, pavilions, bridges, terraces, halls, and towers. Starting from the southern park gate, visitors walk through a fountain pool that reflects Guo Shoujing’s outstanding contributions to water conservancy, then arrive at the “Star Square” in front of the bronze statue of Guo Shoujing, continue through the Astronomical Observatory, and finally reach the Guo Shoujing Memorial Hall. To the east of the memorial hall lies a science education zone showcasing winter and summer constellations, highlighting Guo Shoujing’s contributions to astronomy. To the west is Zijinshan (Purple Mountain), named after the period when Guo Shoujing studied there.

The Water Activity and Sightseeing Area centers around an artificial lake, featuring attractions such as cascading waterfalls and springs, Solitary Fishing Isle, a boat dock, and various pavilions. The Plant Viewing Area is redesigned from the original botanical landscape and nursery, including attractions such as a forest bathing area, sunny lawn, peony garden, and Southern Gardens.
