The Tomb of Tao Zhugong (Fan Li's Tomb) is a cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.

According to *Records of the Grand Historian*, after Fan Li assisted Yue in defeating Wu, he resigned from office to engage in business. He first went to the State of Qi and later settled in Tao, where he called himself Tao Zhugong. He reportedly amassed great wealth three times before passing away and being buried here. Both the *Dingtao County Annals* and the *Literary Records of Southern Cao* also state: “The tomb of Fan Li is located five li northeast of Dingtao County” and “he died of old age in Tao.” Research has confirmed that after Fan Li’s death, he was buried south of Gudui Liuzhuang Village in present-day Dingtao Town. Archaeological surveys show that within an area of over 1,000 square meters surrounding the existing tomb, the surface and subsurface layers up to three meters deep contain a large number of fragments of gray pottery, including both plain and sand-tempered varieties. The terrain here is relatively high, the soil is dark in color, and the fragments are diverse, hard in texture, and of pure pottery color. This site represents a large ancient cultural relic area dating from the Xia-Shang period through the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. Fan Li’s burial here not only aligns with historical records but also matches the surrounding geographical features. In 1982, this site was designated as a county-level key cultural relic protection unit, and in December 2009, it was announced as a municipal-level key cultural relic protection unit.

The lake stretches vast and boundless, with the lone sail fading into the distance. Though the great man has long since passed, the relics Fan Li left behind in Dingtao endure. The commercial theories he established and the tradition of the Confucian merchant have become invaluable cultural heritage of the Chinese nation, shining brightly for future generations and immortalized in the annals of history.
