Peng Ruli’s birth and death dates are unknown. Originally from Poyang, he later moved to Zangwan Fufront in Fuliang County. In the second year of the Jiading era during the reign of Emperor Yingzong of Song (1065 AD), he achieved the highest score in the imperial examination. He held various official positions including Military Investigating Official, Assistant at the Supreme Court, Crown Prince's Attendant, and Imperial Censor. During Emperor Shenzong’s reign, he served as a Record Keeper and was later promoted to Compiler at the Hall of Vast Wisdom. He subsequently served as Vice Minister of both the Ministry of War and the Ministry of Justice. In the reign of Emperor Zhezong, he became Minister of Personnel and later served as Prefect of Jiangzhou for several months before passing away due to illness. He authored ten volumes each of "Discussions on the Book of Changes" and "Interpretations of the Book of Songs", along with fifty volumes of memorials, poetry, and prose.
